We were delighted with the wedding cake Annie created for our reception at the De La Warr Pavilion, Bexhill. Our informal wedding party was held in a beautiful Art Deco building by the sea. I wanted a cake that echoed the decor, and the vintage dresses I wore throughout the day. We'd dressed the tables in a patchwork of retro tablecloths, which we also decorated with wedding favour biscuits that Annie baked. The cake was a wonderful iced chocolate fruit cake for the top cutting tier, with lower tiers made up of cupcakes with flat icing, a cream filling, and decorated with lovely floral decorations that echoed my bouquet. These meant that we could also cater for people with gluten free requirements, and were easy for guests to take home if they wished. Thankfully there were a couple left over for us to enjoy again the next day...delicious.
I have recently been lucky enough to have had two cakes made for me by Flying Pigs Cake Emporium - I was blown away by the decoration & bake of both! The first was my 'knitting' birthday cake. After just a few leading questions, Annie produced an amazingly decorated cake complete with balls of wool, knitting needles, sewing thread, buttons and tape measure! The sponge was equally delicious & very well baked.
The other cake - a Christmas cake, was equally amazing. The decoration was beautiful - a large outlined Christmas tree, simply colour worked & 'painted' with frost and the cake inside - soft fruit, obviously well soaked, and every mouthful contained all the spicy warm flavours of Christmas - delicious!
From start to finish the attention to detail & baking expertise needed to deliver such amazing cakes was excellent - I now know that Pigs can Fly!
